What is EIA?

Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is a process where a project’s or a development’s significant implications on the environment are assessed before the decisions are made.

This process is not an individual decision-making phase; but is an evolving and supporting process along with the decision-making phase.

EIA is the analysis and evaluation of the social outcomes of the temporary or permanent potential impacts of the project/development. The EIA analysis also includes alternative solutions to the potential impacts.
